Good news from Korea …

Sa Jae-Hyouk (28) is back training after his horrible elbow injury from at the London Olympics.

Below is a Korean news bit about him. Thanks to Joo-Young for translating.

Sa Jae-Hyouk, who broke his elbow in a horrific accident in the past London Olympics, has picked a comeback over retirement. Even after numerous surgeries he came back to win gold at Beijing.

Sa received a special award along the weightlifting queen, Jang Miran. It is an honorable position, but his facial expression is not bright.

“I thought it was a bit ironic, because it’s not as if I’m retiring, I will keep lifting. I think this award was given to me in order for me to continue to do special work.”

Sa’s past 6 months have been quite dark. A horrific accident occurred at the London Olympics. His body, which has undergone 6 surgeries, and his tired mind seemed to have reached their limits.

“It was very hard. I had thoughts of retiring from weightlifting, the thing I love most.”

Sa’s contract with his current team, with which he has been with for the past 6 years, has not ended. But as always, Sa is preparing a comeback.

“The future still looks very dark for me, as if I’m inside a long dark tunnel. Nevertheless, I still have a desire to come back and put on a honorable performance.”

Even after 5 surgeries, including knees, wrists, shoulders, and most recently his elbow, Sa will emerge out of the lonely and tiresome struggle, through the seemingly endless dark tunnel, to face the 6th battle with himself.
